Review: The No Asshole Rule

The No Asshole Rule: Building a Civilized Workplace and Surviving One That Isn'tThe No Asshole Rule: Building a Civilized Workplace and Surviving One That Isn't by Robert I. Sutton

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I don't know how much I know after raiding this compared with before, but I feel so much better. It's refreshing to read the horror stories and know that I've never been alone and that it's not my fault so many creeps are in the workplace letting their creep flags fly.

This might have been stronger if he dedicated an entire book to purging assholes (for management) and surviving assholes, for the rest of us.

I do appreciate that he took the time to point out that toxic work environments based on blame, shame, and cutthroat competition are fatten at least partially to blame for asshole outbreaks.

All I can say is: next time I'm on the job market, I'm going to be super picky about who I work with.
