Review: On the Bright Side, I'm Now the Girlfriend of a Sex God
On the Bright Side, I'm Now the Girlfriend of a Sex God by Louise Rennison
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Louise Rennison's Confessions of Georgia Nicolson books are gratuitous guilty pleasures and reading them is an exercise in multitasking. I must simultaneously hold Post It flags between my fingertips so I can flag ridiculously silly and fabbity fab passages, get my husband's attention so I can read one part aloud, laugh and snort, and continue on with another hilarious part I just found while reading the previous one. Oh, yeah, and I have restrain myself from giggling in public places. Some of the material in this book just doesn't work well for those awkward questions you get from elderly women on the bus, "What are you reading, dear?"
::Snort:: ::gasp:: "Oh my god! Oh my god!" ::smacks palm over mouth:: "Om mmow mooood" ::gasp:: "REALLY BIG KNICKERS!" Hee.
Yeah. That's not good.
This second installment is even better than the first one. It has all the key ingredients: Georgia's fab in large doses, the Sex God, her precocious sister who calls her "Ginger" and does strip-teases in the doctor's office, and her mom who thinks said doctor looks like George Clooney.
Sadly, men and boys probably won't "get" this book, but I loved it. It's even pink for girls.
