July is NetGalley Month--Just in case ya didn't know

Mark your calendar for 2012 since this July is almost over: July is NetGalley Month!

Yes, I know: July is almost over, but I just received the latest edition of Follow the Reader (NetGalley's blog) in my email, so I just found out about this myself. Anyway, now we know.

What you might not already know is what this NetGalley thingy is. NetGalley is a site that connects publishers and reviewers. If you're a book blogger, librarian or anyone else who reviews or recommends books (in at least a somewhat professional capacity--I'm marginal, okay?), you can get a free account on NetGalley and be eligible to download free digital ARCs of upcoming books. So if you're a book blogger and you've gone digital, definitely check-out this site.

Just an fyi--each time you request a galley, the publisher has the right to approve or decline your request to review the material. Unsurprisingly, big publishers like HarperTeen and Disney-Hyperion tend to be choosier than the small presses, but c'est la vie. If you set up an account, be sure to include as much information as you can about your social media activities related to book reviews (Twitter following, Goodreads, LibraryThing, etc.)

Okay, PSA over. Now, onto the hot, hot, hot weekend.
