Get a free summer read!
Just in time for summer, 1600 Words a Day is celebrating it's one year anniversary by helping you read even more than you already do. Really, who needs a social life when you have imaginary friends, right?
This giveaway is open to all, but please note that if you are a reader from outside of the U.S. of A, I can only send Kindle (or Nook or Google) books to you. I'm so, so, sorry! I've just run into too much drama dealing with international shipping and I work full time and write part time, so it's too hard to find time to troubleshoot and keep everyone happy. I hope that one day, the world will be a less paranoid place, and it will be much easier to get the good stuff out to whoever wants it, but until that day, digital will have to do. FYI, you don't need an e-reader to read digital books. You can download free applications for your computer or mobile device to read digital books that way, if you like.
I chose three excellent reads for purely sentimental reasons, but given the popular posts, I think most of the regular readers out there will appreciate this list. So, here goes:
- Antonia Fraser's Marie Antoinette: The Journey
- Michael Northrop's Trapped
- Jessica Warman's Breathless
What's the rationale? Well, the post on biographies of famous women is extremely popular and I know from personal experience that Antonia Fraser's biography of the "scapegoat queen" is a great read. Even if you don't think you like history, I think you'll like this biography---really.
Michael Northrop and Jessica Warman were both kind enough to be two of my first author interviews ever on this blog, and they are amazing authors. Anyone who has read their books should feel blessed. They also happen to be very nice (and funny) people. Also, either one of their books will be a wonderful summer read. If you like coming-of-age stories, I recommend Breathless. It is one of the best coming-of-age novels I've read ever, ever, ever. If you're more into adventure and survival, go for Trapped. Be warned: once you pick that book up, you will not want to put it down, so plan for being in for the day---just pray it isn't snowing ;-)
